I have a user with an iPhone 4S that is having issues with his Calendar synching.  He can go in and create new entries which synch with Outlook and in Outlook he can create a new entry and it will synch with his device but the iPhone Calendar will not populate any existing calendar entries.  I've tried setting this up on a separate device and the same thing happens.  Does anyone have any ideas?

In the Calendar app, at the bottom, Calendars. Toggle checkmarks for which calendars you are viewing. Are all available calendars checked?

Brian Quinones

Yes.  I verified the ActiveSync calendar was checked.  This all started when testing AirWatch.  He kept is EAS profile on his phone and then when I pushed out an AirWatch profile I think something messed up his Calendar sync just can't figure out what.  I contacted AirWatch and did some troubleshooting with them but I think it's more an issue on his account.  It's almost as if it's not being allowed to sync the calendar.

On the device, go to the ActiveSync profile and toggle off Calendar so it actually deletes the calendar data from the device. It'll still be in Exchange, so after it processes, toggle it back on and see if it all comes back down. I've seen partial data and that has helped. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

Thanks, I had tried that earlier and didn't resolve the issue.  I'm stumped on this one.

Are the current items in Outlook truly on his Exchange account?  I have a couple users that have multiple calendars in Outlook and think they are all the same calendar.

We also have AirWatch on our iPhones, but I've not encountered this sort of issue with them.  You might try to remove and re-add AirWatch and the Exchange account entirely (and in that order).

Brian Quinones

I've removed/re-added the account in AirWatch, in the native ActiveSync client.  Just a weird issue.  Now one of his re-curring appointments is showing up but none of his other re-curring appointments come up.  Again I can create new calendar entries without an issue.  I'm trying to use the iPhone Configuration Utility to see if I can pinpoint what the issue is.

Have you tried testing the sync time? Settings > Mail, contacts, calendar > (scroll down to Sync and check what it says, mine is events 1 month ago

Also, in the same place check the bottom setting 'Shared Calendar Alerts' is ticked.

This may sound very basic and low-level; I had a user with this same issue, they were not viewing their work e-mail.

For example; they had their work e-mail and g-mail set on their phone; they would create an event on their phone calender under their g-mail account and not the work account, thus it would never show on their computer.

Are you using an Exchange server?

I have also experienced a similar problem in the past with my personal iphone not syncing with my personal computer running Outlook 2010.

The first time I encountered this problem, there was a 'corrupt' entry which prevented any calendar entry from syncing, although no error messages.  I seem to recall the problem was with one of the annual repeating entries.  I managed to work out which one and delete it, checked the sync worked and then add the entry again and then checked it still synced.

I recently had the error again, but was not able to find the problem item, despite deleting (after taking a full backup) several weeks worth of data.

I then restored the data and then tried syncing with iCloud.  It's a bit scary since your default Outlook calendar is now empty, but you do have a new calendar called iCloud.  Just remember to make sure iTunes is not set to sync the calendar (and contacts if appropriate as well).

Not the solution I wanted, but at least my calendar is automatically synced between my iPad, iPhone and Outlook (provided I have WiFi or data signal).

Brian Quinones

Thanks for the responses.  Turns out it was due to the size of his mailbox.  After letting it sit for a few hours all of his entries finally populated his calendar.
